Welcome
Ebchester is a small village on the north-western fringe of County Durham, adjacent to the River Derwent which forms the boundary between Northumberland and Durham. The Derwent is a swiftly flowing river which rises in the Pennines, 20 miles to the southwest and flows into the River Tyne ten miles to the northeast. The village sits at the intersection of easy routes between Consett and Newcastle, and between Hexham and Durham. At the heart of the village lie the remains of the Roman fort, Vindomora, a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
The website showcases the environment and history of the village and surrounding area: promotes the activity which is happening across our community: and promotes the services, venues and facilities available in the area.
Typical of these are the Community Centre, the Boathouse, the Primary School, St Ebba’s Church the National Trust woodland ‘Westwood’, and the ever-popular Beveridge’s Nurseries.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our website. Please get in touch with us if you have any questions or suggestions.
